:: What Is DVB-S Technology...
What Is DVB-S?
DVB-S is an entirely new technology to the Sri Lankan television market. DVB-S employs all digital technology, allowing a larger number of channels to be transmitted within the same bandwidth than in analog cable. The ability to reach the most remote places will be our strength enabling us to retransmit international/local broadcasts by means of the Dialog TV platform using only a 60cm dish and Set Top Box in order to get connected.
What Is DVB-S?

Superior Reception
Digital technology preserves the high quality of the signal as it was first recorded, offering Dialog TV’s subscribers exceptional viewing and listening experience anywhere in the island.

The Process

Dialog TV’s services are transmitted from its all-digital broadcast complex in Colombo. The programmes are acquired from a variety of sources including commercial satellites, and local and international production facilities.

The processed signals are uplinked to the satellite system and then downlinked direct to the user.

A satellite dish, installed at the subscriber's home or office, receives the downlinked signals and transmits them to a Set Top Box (STB) which is connected to a television set. The STB extracts, decompresses and decodes the audio, video and data signals transmitted by the satellite dish.

When a DialogTV Smart Card is inserted into the STB the encrypted signals are unscrambled, providing conditional access to DialogTV’s programmes only to authorised subscribers.

Dialog TV programs are broadcast in HDTV format which offers higher resolution and far more detailed images than traditional television signals. Clarity and high definition make HDTV images appear lifelike: your television experience will never be the same again!
